~Some random earlier shots~

The mystery deepens while the action slows down. We're still checking UB and CT almost every day but the fledglings aren't reporting in anymore. We hope they are safe and enjoying their new adventures, and maybe someday, we will hear of them again.

~July 28

This pefa was seen at Central Terminal this evening, but no sign of any others.

~~~
This one was perched high atop MacKay, then flew off, quickly returned with prey
to another ledge. The prey was eaten and the remains dragged across the ledge.
The bird then posed briefly in the setting sun before taking off, flying low across the campus.
~Who is at the MacKay nestbox?
Who is this unbanded Peregrine at the MacKay nestbox? Where is BB?
Prey leg banded?
Checking out the new home for curtains?
Mate?
Things are getting a bit confusing in Buffalo. Yesterday we saw two unbanded Pefas on MacKay Tower! One was acting as sentry from the Winspear side of the tower, a station Smoky didn't ordinarily use. The other was feasting on a large bird which appeared to have a white band. After eating, this bird entered the nestbox, looked, up, down, all around as if it had never seen the box before and was thinking, "Wow! What a find! Air-conditioned, heated, decorated nicely, gravel, flight deck and perches!"
~Smoky on MacKay~
Smoky has been perching on MacKay Tower again lately but the four kids have been seen less frequently. After hours perched, he suddenly flew off so fast, heading towards Bailey and was quickly out of sight.
~Watching the kids~
Late Sunday morning we found one adult on MacKay when the other flew in and then both flew off together. The kids were flying high between UB, the VA and the water tower. Tuesday will begin the fourth week since fledging.
"I got here first!"
These two were flying around together and both tried to land in the same spot!
~A very young BB~
These pix are of BB as a young fledgling sent to us by Barbara Baldinger who rescued BB from her premature fledge attempt. Barbara returned BB to the 14th floor nest on a Detroit apartment building.
This is BB on her rescue day
day she was seen by Barbara
~UB kids still here~
It's a week and a half since the MacKay Peregrines graduated to fledglings and they are still on campus!
I spotted Tory and Anthos on a utility pole on Bailey between the VA and UB. Two others were seen flying high over the VA at the same time. Great news! Four confirmed successful fledges! A bit later three were seen on a Clark roof getting fed by BB.
~Four fledglings back at UB~
Friday evening we were coming home from a family dinner and didn't have our cameras. We went looking for the fledglings and spotted all four hanging out around Sherman and Cary rooftops. They are staying close to each other and frequently taking flight in the limited area between MacKay and the VA. It was great to find them again. I hope the fireworks this weekend don't freak them out.
These pix were taken with an iPhone on a very cloudy evening.
